Living Here
The common house includes a communal kitchen, dining area, and meeting/TV room. In the common house we meet and eat together, play foosball, watch videos and visit. We rent two apartments (an upstairs 4-bedroom and a downstairs wheelchair accessible 1-bedroom), connected to the common house, to tenant/community members to keep our dues low. We share other community facilities such as laundry rooms, a workshop, a sauna (currently on sabatical), chickens, play structures, community patio, BBQ, compost heap, and more. These are dispersed throughout the yards or the houses in the community.
We make decisions by consensus in monthly meetings of all residents who wish to attend. Our residents are a mixture of renters and homeowners; both groups have equal say in community decisions. Everyone who has lived in the community for three months and has attended three community meetings has the same voting rights, and the right to block consensus, as the most senior members. There are some committees that meet irregularly, but in part because we have been around for so long, there aren't as many issues that require a lot of meeting time.
