Yolo Mambo

Yolo Mambo brings spicy Salsa, Latin, Blues, and Pop rhythms to N Street! Vocalist Catherine LeBlanc delivers Latin and pop music in Spanish, Portuguese, French and English, backed up vocally by the entire quartet: Phil Summers on nylon-string guitar, Carla Campbell on percussion, and Steve O’Neill on upright bass. Our music can be mellow for dinner or cocktails, and lively for dancing, and always fascinating just to listen to. Summers and LeBlanc are familiar members of the world music group !Akimbo, while Campbell will be recognized from her work with the Diane Patterson Xtet. O’Neill’s career has included California Zephyr, the Loose Acoustic Trio, and, with Campbell, local Latin group Mejor Que Nada. Yolo Mambo adapts popular songs to a Latin and Caribbean groove, mixed in with straight-ahead salsa-folk. You will hear the music of Cuba, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Trinidad, New York, Zimbabwe, Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha.
